- Cambodia's sole nationwide WiMAX license holder Chuan Wei has selected Alcatel-Lucent for the deployment of a nationwide WiMAX Rev-e - also known as 802.16e-2005 - network, according to a press release by Alcatel-Lucent on February 17. With the launch of commercial services slated for mid-2009, Chuan Wei expects to accumulate one million subscribers, representing approximately 80% of Cambodia's business and enterprise population, within two years. The turnkey WiMAX solution to be delivered by Alcatel-Lucent covers integration, design, installation, commissioning, and maintenance services.

- Malaysia's Green Packet expects to sign two WiMAX contract in the Middle East and Taiwan, respectively, by the end of March 2009, Malaysia Star reported on February 17. Earlier this year Green Packet landed a HK$3 million (US$386,910; US$1=HK$7.75) contract with Hong Kong's PCCW Group for the delivery of the company's WiMAX-related Intouch product line. It is expected that the two forthcoming contracts will be similar to the PCCW deal.

Meanwhile, Green Packet's own P1 WiMAX service in Malaysia has covered about 15% of the country, according to Malaysia's Chinese-language Kwong Wah e-Newspaper on February 16. It is projected that the coverage will expand to 40% in 2009, representing a subscriber base of over 250,000.
